The National Wood Flooring Association (NWFA) is the leading trade association representing the hardwood flooring industry. With a mission to unify and strengthen the wood flooring community, we set the industry standard through education, technical training, networking opportunities, advocacy efforts, and widely recognized publications and resources.

We have an amazing opportunity for an experienced Executive Director to shape the future of the hardwood flooring community by leading our strategic initiatives and programs. This pivotal role serves as the CEO of the organization and offers the chance to partner with our Board of Directors and to lead our staff to expand the association's impact and achieve the vision of the organization. We offer competitive compensation, including a base salary of $200,000 - $225,000 plus bonus and incentive pay. We also have a generous benefits package including health insurance paid at 100%, dental, vision, life, disability coverage, paid time off, and a Simple IRA retirement plan. This position will work out of our office located in St. Charles just across the river from the Chesterfield Valley.

Key responsibilities of our Executive Director:

  • Lead the execution of the organization's strategic plan;
  • Develop and manage 20 staff employees to implement programs;
  • Manage business affairs including legal, financial, consultants, and other vendors;
  • Develop and oversee the budget to ensure sound fiscal status;
  • Represent the organization as a leader within the industry, including participation in meetings, speaking engagements, and serving on industry-related boards and committees;
  • Recommend legislative action on behalf of the association and advocate for the members of the wood flooring industry;
  • Build strong relationships with member companies to secure volunteer and financial support necessary to achieve association goals;
  • Establish strong relationships with industry trade press to represent NWFA and promote the association's objectives.

Requirements for our Executive Director:

  • Bachelors degree required;
  • Minimum of (5) years of trade association experience, including volunteer board and committee management and a budget of $5MM+;
  • Knowledge of trade industries, including construction related industries, is preferred;
  • Excellent marketing, advertising/public relations, organizational, staff management, and financial skills;
  • Strong interpersonal, communications, and public speaking skills;
  • Ability to serve as an industry expert;
  • Willingness and ability to travel approximately 20%-30%.
